So I tried to install a newer version of motion with netcam_decoder support and started a camera with "netcam_decoder h264_cuvid" param but I guess it didn't work, because CPU usage was still 100 % (no errors were in the log). Even with all features (motion detection, recording, overlay) disabled, it used 100 % of CPU only because of decoding the incoming stream. It worked quite well, had pretty and responsive UI but again, no decent HW acceleration support. And after scrapping Shinobi I tried MotionEye. After days of struggle I didn't manage to set up a HW accelerated decoding/encoding, so could not use timestamps or save recordings in a more space efficient format without having 100% CPU usage for 1 camera at 1 FPS. After that I tried Shinobi, because it was recommended as a way better alternative to Zoneminder. Even after suggested optimizations it was very slow and playback feature was almost unusable. I wanted to have more reliable (secure, modern and preferably open-source) solution, so I started to look for some Linux NVR softwares. Otherwise, it works really well (records 3 Full HD cams at 20 FPS and runs RTSP server without any problem). However, because of its nature I didn't expose it to the Internet because it's full of security holes and has terrible browser support (IE with some weird unreliable NPAPI plugin). Hello, I know this question had been asked too many times but after many wasted hours I would like to be sure I haven't missed anything.įor a long time I used a simple generic Techage Chinese NVR box.
